Fusako Shigenobu released after twenty years in prison

Fusako Shigenobu, founder of the Japanese Red Army, was released after twenty years in prison. The latter was arrested in 2000 in Japan, after spending thirty years in the Middle East.

His far-left movement was close to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Accused of attacks and hostage-taking, “the empress of terror” dissolved the ARJ in 2001 from her cell.

Now 76, she apologizes for her crimes, though she believes her actions have opened her eyes to international inequalities.
