The Japanese tend to drink hot water for its benefits to the body, including cleansing the digestive system and controlling gut health.
In order to meet this demand, konbini 7-Eleven is now selling bottles of natural hot spring water.
Coming from Mount Tanigawa, a 1,977-meter mountain, natural spring water, to be consumed hot, is sold at the price of 91 yen, or 0.70 euros.
A marking on the bottle indicates that the water is intended to be served hot, with the sign "ホット" ("Hot"), followed by "gentle for the body".
This water is described as having a soft texture and does not include any unpleasant taste. It is also practical to help mothers prepare formula for their babies, or to create meals such as ochazuke.
